So, what is Phovea you might ask?

Phovea is basically just me - Jeffrey Williams. I’m a freelance graphic designer who works with both print and Web design as well as illustration. The bulk of my experience has been with a major telecommunications company working as an in-house designer for both print and the Web. I have also worked with other small businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations creating for a variety of different mediums.

When I decided to come up with a name for my freelance business, I wanted something different but relevant to my ideas of design. Having a long time interest in the eye/brain connection and its relation to design (how we see what we see and how we process it), I came up with Phovea. Phovea is an adaptation of the word fovea /fōvēə/. The fovea is the central part of your field of vision. It’s the area of your eye in which visual acuity is the highest. This is where we'd want to focus your message. With a better understanding of these visual processes, I strive to use that information to create designs that work. There's a lot of clutter out there. My goal is to present your message, product, or Web site via focused, eye-catching, yet simple designs that will get noticed.
